Wow! I think we had all better read up on our mythology and send missives to the guilty. Thank you for all of this important info and data, packaged in such a readable story. You are a gift to Iowa.
Much appreciated from your neighbor in Illinois, who is also very tired of hearing the "green energy future" BS continuously spouted by the ethanol salesmen and some of our state colleges. Nate Hagens recently had a good presentation by Jeremy Grantham on the critical but underreported issues surrounding toxicity and public health. His concern about falling birth rates might be a bit controversial (?), but his concern about the toxic soup we all live in out here in Agriworld seems well-founded. Rather than finding a way to restore some of the natural processes we continue to destroy on a daily basis, Vilsack and his ilk are just looking for ways to destroy even more to keep up with the surpluses.
Trackhoe and tiling machine sales in Iowa and Illinois must be pretty good . . .
Exactly: "If there was ANYONE that could have done something to transform Iowa and American agriculture, it was Vilsack." Great point! Being elected is a democracy game, not a blame game.
Very good Chris. Rastetter is really getting brazen in his pushing people around for what he wants to do. The one thing u have to admit the man is damn near a genius in making himself and his investors lots of $$$ in his different investment companies. I've talked to people who've attended his big summer picnic for friend and people of money to invest, with power and political status. I knew from beginning when he would not back off on the pipeline that it had to be an enormous financial windfall!! He definitely knows what wheels to grease.
Magnificent.
Thanks Bob!

You nailed it as always Chris! I'm stealing "Rocket surgery" though. That one made me laugh out loud!
"two letters too long" was even funnier, but not as sly as "rocket surgery."
Thanks Suzan!
You truly bring a fractured smile to my face in these distressed moments with your beautiful way with words, Dr. Jones.

Thanks for another reality check! Wouldn’t it be ironic if the MAGA crowd significantly reduced the Federal carbo credit?!
Wondered that myself
Thank you for this, Chris. Perfectly said.
Rastetter and company are cowardly bullies. Vilsack is an agricultural failure.

What you do is so important, Chris, and appreciated immensely. Thank you. And I just have to add that I, too, love the "rocket surgery" !!
I love it when you get mad!!
Exceptional!
Another great post, Chris.
Fun fact: Did you know the last place Kurt Vonnegut lived in Iowa City was Hotz Street?
I did not! Wonder if B knows that
I'm not sure. My daughter gave me his biography about ten years ago, and I was happy to read that he lived in the old neighborhood at one point.
